This online workshop is designed to help educators discover the characteristics of an effective STEM school. Participants will conceptualize different ways that STEM can work in their classrooms, recognizing what effective STEM instruction looks like. Participants will have access to resources and tools for integrating STEM into teaching and learning.
How can teaching and learning by “STEM-ified” in grades K-2? Like engineers, we viewed this project as a problem to solve. Each workshop module addresses specific concepts related to STEM, the Next Generation Science Standards, and strategies educators can use to implement STEM within their local setting. This course is part of a three-part professional development series for teachers of grades K-8.

Each module contains, rich, illustrated and interactive lesson content with self-check review questions and areas for reflection as learners progress through the course.
Lessons include visual, auditory and active experiences to enhance learner retention and transfer.
Active exercise allow participants to reflect on, practice and apply newly learned skills and information.
Immediate targeted feedback allows learners to assess their performance. Branching pathways are activated based on learner response and/or performance.
Each module concludes with a lesson self-check including suggestions for review before moving on. Successful completion of all modules will result in a certificate of completion.
The course is the equivalent duration of a 2-3 day workshop.
The course contains an introduction and 14 modules.
The course structure is modular. Modules can be rearranged or sequenced based on institutional need or preference.
The approximate time to complete a module is between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
The actual amount of time needed will depend on how familiar learners are with the ideas presented and how deeply they choose to explore the resources provided.
